Vignette Silhouettes

Based on the novella "House on Mango Street", students wrote vignettes about personal experiences.  Those vignettes are the basis for this art project.

Common Elements- All art pieces will include:
  • A visual representation of the figurative language in your vignette

  • Thoughtful, intentional use of positive and negative space

  • A thoughtfully placed silhouette of yourself

  • Words, phrases, or lines from your vignette included in the piece.

Student Choice- Must receive written approval
  • You may choose the materials.

  • You may choose the canvas.  Challenge yourself to use something relevant to your story.

  • You may choose which figurative language to focus your piece on.​

Craftsmanship
Your final work should be neat and purposeful.  Lines should be clean.  Glue should be disguised.  All writing should be free from errors.​

Benchmarks
You will have 15 class periods to complete this piece.  Plan accordingly and use your time wisely.  You will receive a grade for each of these benchmarks.​
