Habits of Mind Book Club

Students previewed over 20 books before selecting one for our team book club. They selected books that matched their reading levels and interests. In groups of 3-5 students will read 1/5 of the book per week and complete a job sheet. Scores will be given for completed job sheets (10 points) and for participation in a group discussion (10 points).

Book Club Jobs

Passage Master- Identify powerful moments in the text and share them with the team. Help oters to understand the importance of the events in the book by sharing and discussing a selection with them.

Quote Connector- Help the group to understand the book better by linking their prior knowledge to events in the book. Your quotes should illuminate relationships between the book, other texts, personal experiences, and the world.

Visionary- Help your group see the story through the character's eyes. Help your group imagine how perspctives affect the story and how just one change could have a significant impact.

Tin Man- Share moments from the book when a character demonstrates a Habit of Heart. You may also discover moments when characters make mistakes and could have made better choices
